A licensing system has been taken into effect
since January 1, 1999. Under this system, one must hold a valid licence in order to
practice estate agent work in Hong Kong.
There are three different types of licences
and they are issued by Estate Agents Authority (EAA).
To apply for a licence, once must fulfill a number of requirements.
All licensees must comply with the Estate Agent Ordinance, CAP 511,
the Practice
Directions and the Code of
Ethics published by EAA..
When dealing with residential properties in
Hong Kong, licensees must use the presribed standard documents and
must comply with the Practice
Regulations established by EAA.
