Through the initiative of EAA's Chief Executive Officer, our President had discussed with the Permanent Secretary (Housing) on August 11, 2003 about ways of improving the sluggish property market.

Together with other trade association chairmen, our President had discussed with EAA's Chief Executive Officer on the 40 recommendations made by the Financial Action Task Force on money laundering on August 29, 2003. During the meeting, our Society has submitted our concerns forcefully.

Our council member, Tony CHAN, had represented our Society to attend a CEPA consultation session for Infrastructure and Real Estate Services Industry which was organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council on September 17, 2003.

Welfare and Benefits

Two “Happy Happy Hour” networking sessions had been held at Va Bene in Lan Kwai Fong, Central on July 17 & August 21, 2003 respectively. Members are strongly encouraged to attend similar sessions to be announced from time to time.

Furniture leasing and design company, Home Essentials, has agreed to offer our members a commission for every successful referral. Depending on the lease income to Home Essentials, members can obtain a reasonable commission income in addition to their selling / buying commission. Conference & Expo

Our international co-operating partner, US's National Association of Realtors will hold its annual conference and expo' in San Francisco from November 7 – 11, 2003. Members who are interested can click into its web at www.nar.org for more information and registration.

International & Local Co-operation

James Ascot, Chairman of NAR's International Operation Commission, will visit Hong Kong on September 30, 2003. Any member who are interested to join the reception dinner in honor of James Ascot can call Co Co Kwok at Bus. Tel. 2869 6361 for seat reservation.

Miriam Lowe, Secretary of the International Consortium of Real Estate Associations, will visit Hong Kong on October 24, 2003. She would take the opportunity to brief the Society on the development of the www.worldproperties.com.
